Batteries in the Automotive world may be the most misunderstood thing we deal with.  I often see batteries  with a science experiment going on, caused by the battery and not getting serviced.  An older, sulfating battery that is breaking down internally can create a lot of havoc. Sure, the car may start, today, but in today’s modern car it can make for an expensive day when that battery tray finally gets serviced. An old battery will essentially boil and create a gas that attacks everything. Cables, hold downs, trays, frame, and even a nearby radiator.  Servicing and replace cables and components can be twice  or more the expense of replacing the battery itself.  And putting in a cheap battery will cause this cycle to occur every couple of years.  There are no short cuts with batteries. If you pay 75 dollars for a group 24 it will last two years or so.
